HTS New England provided the construction of Framingham State’s new science complex with an HVAC system. Due to limited building space, the Hemenway Annex required a custom air handling unit with an integral penthouse to be installed on the roof. To work around the footprint restraints, HTS equipped the project with a space-saving Haakon Custom Air Handling Unit, complete with dual large energy recovery units connected by a common dual-level service aisle. The custom unit was a complete mechanical room, piped on site in coordination with the mechanical contractor. The system will ensure the Hemenway Annex has the highest air quality for the laboratories it services.
The Hemenway Annex encompasses the university’s 16 sparkling new laboratories for the biology, chemistry and food science majors throughout its four floors.
