The 77,000 square-foot, six courtroom building needed to meet sound regulations that would not exceed 50-60 dBA during specific time frames. HTS New England equipped the courthouse with two Daikin Applied air-cooled chillers with a BRD-HushCore Ultimate system to maximize sound reduction and energy efficiency.
Replacing the HVAC system with a larger capacity chiller lead to an increase in footprint. Therefore, HTS relocated the system to the ground level, where we then added on a full acoustical enclosure to reduce sound levels to meet state codes. The renovation will leave Dorchester Municipal Court with a long-lasting chiller system that will not disturb the business throughout the courthouse.
