The Comstock Border Patrol Station was originally built as a drive-thru stop in 1961 and in 2014 required four new buildings to accommodate their growing needs. The 2-story Border Patrol Station office, indoor firing range, vehicle maintenance facility, and checkpoint total approximately 150,000 square feet. The US Army Corps of Engineers required that the project be LEED-certified, and the project ultimately earned a LEED Silver certification.
HTS provided EZ Mechanical with various pieces of equipment to create a quiet and energy-efficient system that would save the facility money over the long term. The system included a 240-ton Daikin air-cooled chiller, five Daikin Vision and Skyline air handling units totaling 200 tons, and four Daikin Fan Coil Units. HTS also provided two Daikin and Addison split systems, three Addison 100% outdoor air split systems, two Daikin unit heaters, 50 Krueger VAV boxes, five Daikin mini splits, and three outdoor and 13 indoor Daikin VRV units.
The Border Station was also equipped with a building automation system that included a LON system with T-Supervisor, four Jace controllers, multiple Distech controllers throughout all four buildings, secondary metering, integrated Daikin chillers, Addison split systems, Data-Aire, Daikin air handling units, and fiber optic cables between buildings.
