The Baylor Research and Innovation Collaborative is a new facility on the Baylor University campus in Waco. The 300,000 square foot building houses laboratories, meeting/symposium halls, offices and workspace, and a scientific/technical artifact exhibit hall that is open to the public.
HTS was chosen for this project based on the value of our equipment and the optimal delivery time with which we could deliver it. Two modular Daikin McQuay air handling units were delivered in 2 weeks to the job site and the owner saved about 20% of the cost.
The units were shipped fully put together, but had to be broken down during install in order to get them up the freight elevator. The use of modular units made this process easy, allowing for quick teardown and reassembly.
One unit was a 12,500 CFM desiccant unit with enthalpy recovery included to meet the 48-degree dewpoint required by the facility. The other unit was built with partial heat recovery with AcoustiFlo fans and measured 30 feet long and totaled 30,000 CFM. Both of these custom units resulted in a highly efficient HVAC system that met the goals of everyone involved in the project from selection to installation.
