Austin Community College added its ninth location, opening a campus in Elgin, Texas. This 65,000 square-foot facility is the first campus to be added in Bastrop County and has the capacity to serve 1,500 students.
HTS helped the new location earn its LEED Silver status by providing energy-efficient HVAC equipment. Though not the basis of design, HTS won on value and price. The primary goal for ACC was to incorporate a quiet and energy-efficient HVAC system that would save the facility money over the long run.
HTS met the requirements of the custom air handling units at a lower cost than competitors, providing 3 Daikin Skyline air handling units with energy recovery, totaling 80,000 CFM. Working with ACC’s tight budget, HTS was also able to supply 2 240-ton Daikin Pathfinder air-cooled screw chillers fitted with VFDs for extra efficiency and noise reduction.
