Built in 1978, this 1 million square foot commercial office space required an upgrade to the HVAC system. HTS Texas worked with RLB Engineering and OGH Services to find a custom, cost-effective solution to handle the outdoor air for this high rise facility in downtown Houston.
Two 46,000 cfm Daikin Vision air handling units were selected due to their reasonable price, modular design and fan array feature. The units, which also included Danfoss VFD’s for the fan array, had to be completely dismantled to fit through a 6’x4′ opening and then re-assembled in the space. Daikin Vision air handling units can be split and shipped in numerous components to accommodate installation challenges such as the one presented at this LEED® Gold building. The Daikin units were also an ideal solutions because they have variable dimensioning and can be modified in two inch increments to match any space requirement. Ultimately, these modular Daikin units provided a high-quality, sustainable solution for 1 Houston Center and its tenants.
