Nepean Sportsplex is a multi-purpose facility serving residents and visitors to Ottawa, hosting over 60 events and over 1 million clients annually. This project involved the replacement of the 50m and 25m pool HVAC systems and the construction of exterior structural steel platforms with acoustic cladding.
The design utilized a unique method of dehumidification using mostly outdoor air with heat recovery as opposed to traditional mechanical dehumidification for most of the year. This results in better indoor air quality through increased ventilation, while saving on both operating and maintenance costs.
Due to the close location of the project to the National Capital Commission Greenbelt, a specific sound level had to be respected at the project property line. Acoustical barrier panels were required at the two steel support platforms erected to support the new equipment. HTS coordinated with the different consultants and with the installation team for the acoustical panels. This was done to ensure the panels were properly mounted and able to resist the expected loads on them such as gravity, snow, wind, & seismic. Certification of the panel’s installation was provided at the end of the project.
HTS supplied the following equipment:
- Innovent Rooftop Pool Dehumidification Units
